Summary

The Borzoi is a regal and aristocratic sighthound, originally bred by the Russian nobility to hunt wolves. They are known for their calm demeanor indoors and their explosive speed outdoors. They are affectionate with their families but can be aloof with strangers.

Origin and History

Developed in Russia from crosses between Arabian sighthounds and Russian sheepdogs. They were favored by the Tsars and used in grand hunting parties.

Temperament and Personality

• Quiet: They rarely bark and are generally very calm indoors.
• Independent: Like cats, they can be stubborn and aloof.
