Overview
The AmStaff is a dog of great strength for its size. Descended from fighting dogs, today it is bred for its stable and reliable temperament. Known as the “nanny dog” for its patience (though children should never be left alone with dogs).
Origin & History
Developed in the USA from the British Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Breeders aimed for a larger, heavier dog. Recognized by the AKC in 1936.
